Today was Kailah's second year at high school, she was a sophomore already. He looked somewhat different, not by much though.
"Kailah wake up." He said, opening the door to her room and turned on the light.
His daughter of 16 years was still snoozing. He shook his head and shook her till she finally woke up, hearing her grumble of course but finally gotten up.
He left to get himself ready and made some coffee. It would take Kailah about 45 minutes to get ready before she could even go to school. Jack spoiled Kailah of course, the girl got whatever she wanted.
He sat down at the table, drinking his coffee and reading the paper as he waited for her to get done.

~*~ Waking up was the worst part of any day really. Getting out of bed took time, especially when Jack had to shake her awake every day, and she grumbled in disapproval. She finally got up though and dragged herself to the shower. She needed the hot water to wash over her for a while to wake up as she seemed to never really wake up otherwise and coffee tasted too icky for her. Whenever she was staying with her dad, she liked to sleep in as long as possible since her mother never let her get away with snoozing. If she wasn't out of bed within ten minutes of her alarm, Amanda would give her a rude awakening by dumping a glass of cold water on her, a lesson she'd learned when she'd pushed her mother too far one morning and not taken her threats seriously. Another difference as far as which parents she was staying with was when she misbehaved. Jack would just ground her like a regular kid, whilst Amanda would magically lock her the house until she figured out how to break the spell (as she'd have earned her freedom then) or she was allowed out again. Getting dressed didn't take that long as she liked to lay out her clothes the night before so she could sleep longer. Once she was dressed, she walked into the kitchen and smiled slightly at her father before she popped a pack of chocolate chip pop tarts in the toaster and enjoyed her sugary breakfast. "Do I have to come straight home after school today dad? Mom and Ana want to take me dress shopping for the upcoming school dance..." She wasn't sure if they'd even talked about it, as her mom and step-mom were really busy with work these days, but hopefully the girls wouldn't get in too much trouble for wanting to make sure Kailah was the pretties girl at the stupid dance. --- Outfit like the picture, with white sandals.

Hunter had called him of course that morning, talking about the pack activity and some new pack members that had wanted to join. The new pack member that wanted to join was a 18 year old boy who actually went to Kailah's school. Jack didn't think anything of it of course, Kailah wasn't apart of his pack but she was learning from him how to control her wolf side.
He looked up from his paper and gave his daughter a smile back. He blinked at what she asked him. A school dance? Amanda hadn't spoken to him about a school dance or taking Kailah to go dress shopping.
"Well if you want to go with them to go dress shopping I see nothing wrong with it.......a boy isn't taking you is he?" He asked.
Jack didn't really like the thought of his daughter dating anyone. He was extremely protective of his daughter and didn't approve of any boy that she had brought around.

It seemed she'd been right that her mom had been too busy with her own things to talk to Jack about the dance, but she'd been promised she could go. It had taken talking to Ana to get her mother to agree that going to the dance might be good for her, but she loved her step-mom for helping her out when her parents were disapproving of something.
In public, especially around humans, her moms were usually referred to as her sister and her girlfriend as it was hard to explain to a mere mortal how Amanda only looked eight or nine years older than her daughter and her step-mother barely looked twenty. Humans couldn't wrap their minds around it, so it was just easier, besides she knew who they were to her and that was all that mattered.
Of course there was a boy taking her to the dance, but her mom had been very clear she wasn't to say that to her dad until after Amanda had talked to him. Her father was very overprotective, and she didn't want him to tell her she couldn't go to the dance just because she was going with a guy. "A bunch of us are going... We'll go as a group, what does it matter? It's not like I'll be alone with some random stranger all night..." OK, it wasn't the whole truth, but at least it wasn't a straight out lie; she hated lying to her dad because he was always so quick to give her everything she wanted.
"Talk to mom about it, she already said I could go... I'm gonna be late for school if we don't go soon." It was true that she would be late if they didn't leave soon, but it was not something she usually mentioned, she just wanted to get out of having the conversation they were having and she wanted to see the senior that had asked her in the first place. If she could accidentally bump into him before class that was.

Amanda hadn't been the most vocal when it came to their daughters personal life, mainly because Kailah attracted alot of guys, there were even a few from his pack but Jack was quick to put them in their place and they didn't so much as look up when Kailah came around. He seriously disapproved of Kailah even thinking of dating a boy from his pack, he was alittle worried now about that 18 year old boy that had recently joined his pack that he even went to the same school as Kailah. Wait, there wasn't even anything that would led him to believe that somethig might happen or was even going on.
He just cocked an eyebrow at Kailah's excuse and just got up, getting his keys now."Well lets get going." He said and walked to the car with Kailah.
They talked but he decided not to bring anything up when it ame to boys or the dance, pulling up infront of the school and told her he loved her and gave her some money for lunch. "Have a good day." He said, watching her leave before heading to work.

Kailah knew she wouldn't get away from talking about the dance forever, but she was delighted that she'd be given at least one day of downtime. If her mother could convince her dad to let her go to dance, she would be really happy, even if her mother was good at keeping her personal life a secret.
"You too, dad, I'll show you my dress first thing when I get back," she was in a good mood. It was a small victory to at least be allowed to go dress shopping, even if she knew her dad would freak out if he ever found out. Not only was she going with a guy, but she was going with another werewolf and she knew how he felt about her bringing guys around.
She managed to bump into her friend on her way to class, ignoring the way her other friends looked at her for acting all girly. She got very giddy after seeing him really, and it even made math fun as she was in such a good mood, and she usually hated math. Maybe Amanda could talk to Jack while she was busy learning...
---
So she hadn't exactly been straightforward with Jack, and she wanted to clear the air so Kailah wouldn't get in too much trouble. She wanted to get another tattoo anyway, so she'd decided to go see Jack at work, that way she didn't have an excuse not to talk about it anymore. She'd left her mate to work with her vampires while she went to see her friend.
"Hope I'm not interrupting..."

Aaron was busy talking to a few of his friends with he looked up and saw a certain red headed teenager approach him. He smiled at the sight of her and hugged her. He had to be extremely careful when it came to Kailah, her father was the alpha and not just a alpha but his. He joined the pack about a week ago and met Kailah a few days ago. He knew who she was, but after getting to know her he couldn't help but to ask her to the dance.
Jack had gotten done with his customer when Amanda showed up. The witch normally didn't come to his work unless it concern Kailah. "No your fine....something you need?" He asked, cleaning his needles.

When Jack asked her if she needed anything, Amanda nodded and pulled out a sketch she'd been working on. "I figured we needed to talk, and this would tie us up for a while, if you've got the time," she said and chuckled, knowing that keeping Jack at work would keep him from getting mad at her for giving their daughter some leisure as far as guys went.
The tattoo she had in mind would probably take up at least an hour, and that ought to be plenty of time to catch up really. She wanted a phoenix tattoo on her back and she'd never trust anyone near her skin with a needle other than Jack. Ever since he'd helped her get well again, she'd trust him with her life if it came to it, and trusting him with a needle really wasn't hard then. Besides, Ana had helped with her threshold for pain, so she'd manage a bigger tattoo just fine.
"I should've talked to you first, but Kailah begged me to go to the dance and I think it'd be good for her to do something fun for a change. She's been doing really well with her homework lately," and with her magic, which was what she really meant. She just couldn't say it in the store since she didn't know who was listening.

He looked at the sketch and took it, examining it for a moment before smiling. He instructed Amanda to lay on the chair on her stomach and lift her shirt up. He drew a stincel of the drawing she gave, putting it on her back and once he had the stincel, he turned the needle on and dipped it in ink.
He listened to Amanda explained about the dance and sigh."We'll I don't mind her going I guess I just don't really like the idea of boys being in that group." He said and started filling in the spaces.

Over the years, they really had perfected the whole parenting thing. Where Amanda was strict, Jack was lenient and visa versa, it certainly gave their daughter plenty of opportunities to figure out which parent to talk to first and get to convince the other. Maybe they'd spoiled her too much, but she was getting the best from both worlds and Amanda didn't want anything to stand in the way of Kailah making her own mistakes and learning from them, no matter how much she wanted to protect her and keep her safe.
The witch did as Jack asked and relaxed as he started to work on her skin. "She'll never learn who to trust and who not to if we don't trust her to make the right choices you know. Besides, Kailah wouldn't keep things from you if you didn't go into alpha mode with every guy she thinks she likes." Amanda was amused though; Kailah knew that as long as whoever she wanted to bring home to her mother behaved and treated her nicely, Amanda would approve. She remembered how it was like being a sixteen year old girl very well.
"I talked to her last night, and I told her that if she was going to this dance with the guy she's into at the moment, they both need to sit down with us so we'll know whether or not he's just using her and that they would go with a group of friends and not all alone. All she wants is for us to give him a fair chance..." Hopefully Jack understood where she was going with it all; if they didn't trust their daughter to do like she promised and keep them informed, she'd start doing the things they didn't want behind their backs instead. She was stubborn after all and once she'd set her mind to something there was no changing it.

Jack was protective, he knew this. He couldn't help it, part of it was due to him being a alpha wolf and the other was him being a father to his only child and his only child happened to be his little girl.
He continued to work on the tattoo and looked up at what she said. So, there was some boy that was going. He sigh."Do you know who the boy is...." He asked.

Fathers were generally more overprotective of their little girls than mothers were, mainly because they knew how guys thought. Amanda trusted that Kailah could take care of herself, especially since they'd been working a lot on her spells and she knew Jack had worked a lot on her werewolf instincts so she should be fine, even if the guy was a few years older.
"She never told me his name, but I know two things for certain. You definitely aren't going to approve, and she can handle herself with him. She's still got a way with animals after all," that was her less than cryptic way of letting Jack know Kailah wanted to go to the dance with a werewolf. "Personally, I wouldn't mind if she went with someone closer to her own age, but our little girl got asked by a senior." There was obvious pride in her voice. She remembered how it was when she was sixteen; the guys that were older never seemed interested in younger girls, they wanted the college girls, but for some reason their little girl had snagged a real date to the dance.
"She's a beautiful girl, and the more we tell her not to do something, the more she'll want to do it behind our backs.."

When he learned that the boy was older and more likely a werewolf, it made him almost growl but he remained focused on his work.
Amanda seemed to be prideful that their 16 year old girl got asked out by a senior. He sigh at what she said, knowing that what she said was the truth.
"A wolf and a 18 year old.....nice...." He said alittle sarcastically.

If they didn't like the boy after meeting him, Amanda would never tell Kailah not to see him again, she'd rather scare the boy off instead. That way their daughter wouldn't sneak out to see him behind their backs and they got what they wanted. "She's too much like both of us to be told who she can and can't see. I mean... the girl did grow up with four parents after all, and definitely not in the traditional sense..."
Kailah's two dads were together and her two moms were together, so it definitely got complicated when they met judgmental people. How could any of them try to tell Kailah who she couldn't see until she'd learned the hard way that some times love hurts. "It's not my idea of a perfect situation either, Jack, but she needs to learn for herself. I never want to see her hurt, but heartache is part of life for most people..."
Biting her lip slightly, Amanda realized she couldn't let Kailah off at Jack's right after they'd found a dress as she'd already planned to meet the guy before going home, and most likely not mention it to her dad at all. "She said she might see him after we're done buying dresses today, why don't I call you when we're done and the four of us go eat someplace?" There was nothing that would be more awkward for either their daughter or her date for the dance, but Amanda needed to know that he'd treat her right and it might make Jack more relaxed about the whole thing if he did.

Amanda did have a point there. Kailah didnt grow up in a normal home, so telling her who she couldn't love would be rather hypocritical of him. He didnt want her to date a werewolves....he knew how they could be when it came to the one they choose as their mate and he didnt want her to go through that. Mason had suffered some at his hands and he out it down to his wolf side.
He sigh at her suggestion that they have dinner with this new boy. "I guess that would be okay....." He said softly.
"I don't really want her dating any werewolves.....they have trouble controlling themselves, especially very young males......you know how I've hurt Mason in the past.......it was because I had trouble controlling myself and I worry about that." He added softly.
